Miracle Train is all about bishounens representing Oedo Line stations helping female passengers solving their problems. With that being said, only female passengers are able to board the so-called Miracle Train, one at a time.
Since the first episode, we’ve seen various female passengers from a young girl pining for her late father to typical office ladies and honestly, it’s boring me out if the series is gonna stay that way till its last run. But then in the seventh episode (I think), an irregularity happened on the train where the train seems to be traveling in warped space without receiving any passengers and no one (including the mysterious masked conductor) seems to know what’s going on and in the ninth episode, yet another irregularity happened where a male passenger boarded the train due to confusion at the ticket machine. One thing’s certain is that this guy is not without problem. With no other choice at hand, all the stations lend their hands in helping their first male passenger albeit reluctantly (at first), solving his problem.
Getting this guy to talk about his problem is a feat, let alone getting him to reveal the real problem that somehow got him into the train in the first place. And so, after much coaxing, this guy reveal his utmost secret – he is into anything that girls would consider as cute. He is so into it that he decorated his room with cutesy items that he purchased with the paycheck that he received every month and is accumulating since his first paycheck. Who knew that an ordinary-looking guy like him would have these cutesy items?
There’s no way for him to leave the train if his problem remain unsolved. The stations then each gave their opinions and point of views on his problem and after the whole discussion (and crazy role-play by the stations), this guy decided to keep the other side of him hidden forever only to change his mind after his cute items are being removed one by one from his room. As advised by the Oedo Line stations, he decided to come clean to his girlfriend and as it turned out, his girlfriend doesn’t mind at all. In fact, she too, loves cute stuffs, which is great as they both share the same interest. A match made in heaven, as he puts it before he leaves the train.
Ciassou!!

"Why do I have to fetch Judai to tell him we're making a movie?"
See? I can do stuff on time too sometimes!
This episode is about Yusei traveling to a town within a desert wasteland. Apparently an unspecified friend of his whom we will refer to as “Kiryu” has been spotted in that area and Yusei wishes to save him. Save him from what? Death this time. Wasn’t that the case before? No, not really. It was more like to let his soul rest in peace… but we all know what happened after that… everybody got resurrected. We just knew Kiryu went “traveling”. Well, now we know where he is.
Expect Kiryu with long hair, no other main characters than Yusei. No, not even Jack nor Crow have come to save their buddy.
Last episode summary:
Leo, Zora’s son who’s been gone for three years, returns to fix the Poppo Time clock that his father built and failed to repair. But he and Zora did not make up and made matters worse. Crow steps in and challenges Leo to a Duel. If Leo loses, he will have to apologize to Zora but if he wins, he’s free to do whatever he wants. The Duel commenced and Crow took the upper hand. Leo quickly loses the will to Duel and gives up but Crow reminds him why he left and why he returned. Leo draws his father’s card: Time Wizard and brings about a turnaround. Crow loses on purpose after seeing Leo’s determination and Leo chooses to make up with Zora. In the end, Leo was able to fix the clock and Zora forgives him.
Key Card of the Week:
Infernity Destroyer: LV 6, 2300 ATK / 1000 DEF.
Episode 86:
In a desert wasteland, Yusei was riding his D-Wheel. He stops at some cliff and sees Duel Disks stuck on the ground like crosses in a cemetery below.
Then, he spots several people running away just beside the cemetery-like set. The people had weird things attached to their neck. They were running away from another batch of extras wearing black Duel Disks.
"We look bad so we're definitely bad!"
The first group tries scaling the walls but were unable to do so. Suddenly, one of them throws a pendant up to the cliff, which lands just near Yusei is.
Property of Sanzenin Mikado.
The second group raises their Duel Disks and places some cards on it. For some reason, it sends shocks to the things attached to the first group’s neck. The first group faint after a couple of shocks. Yusei asks the second group what they are doing but they tell him that they’re just catching bad guys. Good guys who look like bad guys aren’t that all trustworthy so Yusei asks again, this time, to unhand the prisoners. The second group simply takes the knocked-out guys away and tells Yusei that he’s invited to their town, populated by Duelists.
Yusei picks up the pendant. He then narrates that he’s not there for a job, he wanted to check out the town to find a friend.
Opening song: FREEDOM by La-Vie
Burntown 5 miles away.
And so, Yusei drives inside town. It is revealed that someone sent him a letter regarding a friend of his that needs to be saved in that town. The letter was from a woman, judging by the woman’s voice through the letter’s voice-over. The letter explained that Yusei’s friend is most likely to be killed if he’s not taken away from that town.
Yusei stops at a crossroad and some more ugly guys appear, much uglier than the ones from earlier. At least those guys looked human but these news guys… eck…
The guys surround Yusei after Yusei told them he only Duels those who are true Duelists. Before they could start, a woman appears from inside a building and stops them.
Barbara, the letter-sender.
The woman successfully stops the fight through a bouquet of flowers. She tells them that she was the one who called for Yusei. It is then revealed that she is the sender of the letter, Barbara.
And then they lived happily ever after...
A few hours passed. Barbara had told Yusei about the situation. They are now watching the sunset from another cliff. Barbara explains that the town becomes a true battlefield when the sun sets. At the same time, two groups of Duelists meet at a crossroad. Yusei asks what’s going on and Barbara tells him he’ll find out soon.
"We all gathered here today just to see two people play a card game!"
The men wearing the red scarves are from the Marko family, their leader is Marko (No, he’s not the Marco kid from the Garome filler episode).
Marko, leader of the Marko group.
The men on the other side are the Ramon group, led by, surprise, surprise, a guy named Ramon…
Ramon, the leader of the dun dun dunnn! Ramon group!
The Marko guy calls up his fixer, whom he only calls “sensei“. Some huge musclehead steps forward.
For the sake of simplicity, we'll call him Musclehead.
Then Ramon calls his own fixer, some guy he also just calls “sensei“. But this sensei is a very familiar sensei. He even got his own entrance gimmick. The entrance theme is even courtesy of himself, playing a harmonica.
Is it time for the Sephiroth joke yet?
Yusei recognizes the second sensei… it’s Kiryu! Barbara is showing Yusei just how dangerous that town is for Kiryu. Their Duel commences.
Hey, it is Kiryu! Oh my god! It's like we haven't seen the preview of the last episode!
They each pulled out their guns. Kiryu pulls it faster and suddenly straps it on his arm, turning it into a Duel Disk! How convenient! They’re like cowboys except the first one who “draws” doesn’t win immediately.
I can't even imagine how this turns into a Duel Disk...
"Is this the line for the Hell Kaiser fanboys?"
Part B:
A tumbleweed passes by… and now it’s time to Duel, Western style!
Yusei notices that Kiryu is being a silent moe. There’s no Duelist inside him. Barbara explains that Kiryu went there the first time like he was just waiting for death. The town stunk of death. Barbara tells Yusei of the history of their town.
The Dyne mineral.
Back then, a mineral called Dyne was discovered and some kinda gold rush happened. Two people were in charge of gathering the minerals from the mountain, which were Marko and Ramon. They were the ones who recruited people into it. Soon after, they used Duels to force people. Their town became known for Duels with high stakes of money. The best Duelists came around in search of their town and earn cash. Those who lose, however, suffer the consequences.
Turn 2 - Musclehead's turn: 4000 LP
- Summons Regal Keeper. Its effect is to deal 1000 damage to the opponent whenever they draw a card outside their Draw Phase by returning 1 of their own hand cards to the Deck.
- Activates Card Destruction.
- Kiryu chains his facedown Full Salvo. He discards all of his hand cards to inflict damage to Musclehead x200 for every card he discarded (Musclehead: 3200 LP).
- Card Destruction resolves and Musclehead draws cards.
- Because his hand cards are zero, Kiryu tributes Infernity Mirage to Special Summon 2 Infernity monsters from his Graveyard, namely Infernity Archfiend and Infernity Destroyer.
Regal Keeper: LV 3, 1300 ATK.
The Key Card of the Week making its appearance (left) and Infernity Archfiend (right): LV 4, 1800 ATK / 1200 DEF.
Yusei recognizes that trick. It’s Kiryu’s ultimate handless combo!
Turn 3 - Kiryu's turn: 4000 LP
- Activates a Spell Card called Infernity Burst. It deals damage to the opponent equal to the number of Infernity monsters on his field x800 (Musclehead: 1600 LP).
- Infernity Destroyer attacks and does what it does best: destroys Regal Keeper (Musclehead: 600 LP).
- When Infernity Destroys destroys a monster by battle and Kiryu doesn't have any hand cards, the opponent takes 1600 damage (Musclehead: 0 LP).
- Kiryu wins!
After Musclehead lost, he was tied by some guy on a chariot and then was dragged, much like when comedians start being corny onstage.
That's gonna leave a mark...
Apparently, this was a Casket Match. Musclehead got shipped away in a casket.
Time to visit the Undertaker.
Barbara explains that those who lose… are sent to the mountains as slaves who will have to work there…
…what? Then what the hell was that casket theatrics about?! The hell was all that dragging for?! These people know how to make big out of something small!
Ramon congratulates Kiryu. Marko fumes. Everyone is all cheery. Yusei wonders what happened to Kiryu and Barbara explains that Kiryu wants to fight and fight until he dies. Yusei tries calling out Kiryu and he does stop. But after confirming that it was Yusei, he starts to ride off again.
Later that evening, Marko tries drowning himself in liquor to remove the taste of humiliation. He was so hostile that he whacked a kid over the head with a liquor bottle. Fortunately, it didn’t lead to any child abuse issues as there is no blood nor was the battle broken. He mentions something about a younger brother Rotton guy who could defeat Kiryu in a flash or something.
Is it just me or is the mark on his cloak look like the Dragon Head birthmark?
Suddenly, Yusei appears in a weird clothing and offers his services as a Duelist who will face Kiryu. But before he can be recommended, he has to be put to the test first. He has to face the Three Stooges in a Duel.
Moe, Larry and Curly?
They all pull out their pistol-shaped Duel Disks, including Yusei. It’s a 3v1 Duel and this time, Yusei’s on the opposite end.
Turn 1 - Yusei's turn: 4000 LP
- Summons Change Synchron in Defense Position.
- Sets a card.
Turn 3 - Stooge 2's turn: 4000 LP
- Summons his own Hunter of Peace.
- Stooge 1's Hunter of Peace shoots Yusei for 800 damage. It appears when a new Hunter of Peace is summoned, the first one deals 800 points of damage (Yusei: 3200 LP).
Turn 4 - Stooge 3's turn: 4000 LP
- Summons another Hunter of Peace.
- Stooge 1's Hunter of Peace shoots Yusei (Yusei: 2400 LP).
- Stooge 2's Hunter of Peace shoots Yusei (Yusei: 1600 LP).
The Three Stooges are confident about their win. Their hands are full of the Hunter of Peace! Talk about arranged Decks!
This is why we shuffle before we play.
Marko seems confident and so is Yusei! He just brushes off the shots and continues his turn.
A flashback reveals that Barbara told Yusei that to save Kiryu, he has to defeat him in a Duel. That would mean Kiryu will be released from Ramon’s group and when he’s being taken to the mountains, Yusei can jack the operation and escape with Kiryu.
Turn 5 - Yusei's turn: 1600 LP
- Discards Quillbolt Hedgehog to Special Summon Quickdraw Synchron.
- Because a Tuner monster exists on his field, Yusei Special Summons his Quillbolt Hedgehog from his Graveyard.
- Tunes LV 5 Quickdraw Synchron with Quillbolt Hedgehog to Synchro Summon Nitro Warrior.
- Summons Gauntlet Warrior.
- Tunes LV 1 Change Synchron with LV 3 Gauntlet Warrior to Synchro Summon Armory Arm.
- Because Change Synchron was sent to the Graveyard, he changes Stooge 3's Hunter of Peace to Defense Position.
- Activates Armory Arm's effect and equips it to Nitro Warrior (Nitro Warrior: 3800 ATK).
- Activates Junk Barrage and equips it to Nitro Warrior.
- Because a Spell Card was activated, Nitro Warrior's ATK increases to 4800.
Yusei claims that he will defeat all three at the same turn!
Continuing Yusei's turn:
- Nitro Warrior attacks Stooge 2's Hunter of Peace (Stooge 2: 800 LP).
- Armory Arm/Junk Barrage's effect activates (Stooge 2: 0 LP).
- Nitro Warrior's effect activates and changes Stooge 3's Hunter of Peace to Attack Position and attacks it (Stooge 3: 800 LP).
- Armory Arm/Junk Barrage's effect activates (Stooge 3: 0 LP).
- Activates a facedown Trap Card called Synchro Overlimit. A Synchro Monster that has destroyed a monster by battle this turn can attack once again,
- Nitro Warrior attacks Stooge 1's Hunter of Peace (Stooge 1: 800 LP).
- Armory Arm/Junk Barrage's effect activates (Stooge 1: 0 LP).
- Yusei defeats the Three Stooges!
One Turn, Three Kill (OT3K). Sounds impressive, doesn't it?
Marko is mightily impressed. Yusei did a One Turn, Three Kill. He accepts Yusei on the spot and Yusei tells him that he’s quite rare… so his price will be quite high.

Comments:
Kiryu’s back… but the long hair… doesn’t suit him at all! I preferred it when he looked like Hayate!
Man, really, Kiryu looks terrible in silent moe mode. Where’s the egomaniacal laughter that we all came to love (or hate)? This is what I can call disappointment. Well, at least Pin can still laugh like that. Yusei better save him or else…
Now… about Barbara. What could be here agenda in telling Yusei to save Kiryu? She seems to know a lot about Kiryu in his time in the town. Could it be that she’s a stalker fangirl? Or maybe… she’s also a member of Marko’s group and would like Kiryu to be out of their way? After all, she did stop those red scarves people earlier in the episode through a bouquet of flowers and they didn’t have much say about it.
Also, what role does the pendant that Yusei acquired have to do anything with the plot? Where did Kiryu get a harmonica? Is the little kid somehow important to the plot admiring Kiryu?
Where are the others? What happened to Jack, Aki, Crow, Rua and Ruka? Is this supposed to be a filler or will this play a part in the WRGP or Yliaster arcs? We’ll see in the next few episodes.
Next episode:
Yusei is set to battle Kiryu. Ramon seems really confident and Kiryu has long forgotten what satisfaction means… Will Yusei be able to bring back Team Satisfaction Kiryu? Dark Signer Kiryu? Oh god, just please take him out of the silent moe category! He doesn’t fit the bill!
Here’s another piece of poop. Spelling doesn’t count, and I have completed all shows in question.
Love Hina/Love Hina Again – Motoko Aoyama
Okay, so here we have the classic awesome “girl-dressed-like-a-miko-who-has-a-sword-and-talks-big-but-is-actually-still-a-girl-in-the-end” character. Motoko is awesome and I’m just going to list some reasons:
She’s got a sword, and anytime a girl has a sword in an anime it sets that character up to be awesome right away.
She’s dressed like a miko. Cmon, that’s great.
Even though she gets angry a lot, she get embarassed a lot (which is like all girls….well…..all girls according to anime at least (IRL girls are more….normal))
She’s afraid of turtles.
That’s right, a samurai girl afraid of turtles. I love weird random traits that charcters have. Afraid of turtles? RANDOM = AWESOME. END.
Love Love? – Hikaru Jougasaki
At one point, I actually dropped this show. Then I picked it up, finished it and liked it. Apparently it’s a sequal to Smash Hit. I haven’t seen Smash Hit, but I could follow this fine. I actually was watching Smash Hit at one point, but then I dropped it (just like Love Love?). I’ll pick it up later, finish it, and like it.
As far as characters are concerned, Hikaru wins for the simple fact that she is a tomboy. I love the tomboy characters, they’re awesome. In case you’re wondering, Hikaru was raised by 6 brothers.
Lucky Star – Konata Izumi
A parody of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," which is my favorite anime movie ever.
While looking for a good picture of Konata (of which there are a SHITLOAD), I found a few that were different, and so here they are. What’s so special about those? Nothing, one was a DMC parody, and the other two were just different artists. That’s it. So why is Konata the winner here? Well, I did write a whole post about it before, but I’ll write some stuff anyway.
Lucky Star, if you’re wondering, had a pointless plot, but I still find it to be one of my favorite shows (top 30).
Why? Isn’t it the same thing as K-On?
No. K-On was an attempt at a show with no substance other than to try to make the characters more moe than the pervious episode. It actually wasn’t even a real show. Lucky Star at least dealt with different things from episode to episode, and it had this guy singing some endings. Holy Fuck, maybe that guy should be my favorite character?
. . . . . .
Nah, I’ll stick with Konata, because she’s funny with her repetitive otaku jokes. Whenever she talks, you know she’s going to talk about gaming or manga or something, for example, the whole “I’m reading” scenario that Baka-Raptor, an avid Lucky Star…..err…..non-liker, talked about. These kind of jokes, for whatever reason, amuse me. That, coupled with the parodies of other shit, make me like Konata and Lucky Star. That’s it.
Boy, did Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (TM8) come out of nowhere and completely surprise me. It’s a riveting story about what could possibly happen if Tokyo were to get hit by a devastating earthquake of magnitude 8.0. Mirai, a middle school freshman girl, and her younger brother, Yuuki, go to Tokyo at the start of summer vacation for a robot exhibition. An earthquake of magnitude 8.0 occurs which causes much devastation to Tokyo and the surrounding areas. They meet up with Mari, a motorcycle delivery woman, amidst the turmoil, and they start their journey to go back home.
Story: 10/10
The story is fascinating and fresh. There is a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode that states a large amount of research concerning earthquakes and such were done as the show is striving for realism. The show is fiction, but this sense of realism adds to the emotional story. Further, the flow of the story, for the most part, is excellent and will make viewers want to watch the episodes consecutively.
Animation: 8/10
The character drawings range from “average” at worst to “very good” at best. In some scenes, the characters look lazily drawn, but it gets the point across and is not annoying to look at. The backdrop has much more detail and is often times excellent in quality. The CG scenes are well done too. The difference in quality between the character and setting animations is to increase the overall realism and devastation caused by the earthquake.
Characters: 10/10
The characters are exceptional. Everyone is believable and very likeable. The protagonists grow with the unfolding events and are a main reason why the story is so moving. Further, the supporting cast is also well done. One can connect with any of the side characters and sympathize with their situation. In addition, the voice actors did an excellent job of conveying the tone and emotion to put an genuine spin on their characters (especially Mari and Yuuki’s seiyuus).
Music: 8/10
Kimi No Uta’s (opening) music and lyrics are fitting for the chaotic events and describe the protagonists’ situation well. The ending song, Melody, is very catchy and uplifting. Its “melody” is light and happy which clashes (in a good way) with some of the more serious scenes. The background score, while not exactly memorable by itself, is purposeful and moving.
Rating (Average): 9/10
Bottom line: TM8 is a gripping, refreshing, depressing, but extremely entertaining drama. The viewer may want to watch something happier and lighter at the end because it is a real tear jerker. Not exactly my cup of tea (too sad), but I know an excellent series when I see it.
Pretty much everything before 1979 is a blur. Bits and pieces flash before my eyes, but they’re fleeting.
1973-1978 are little more than flickering visions of polyester and plaid.
But for the longest time I could swear I was a child obsessed—with a cartoon.
I have visions of jumping around the backyard in a homemade costume, a paper “G” safety-pinned to my chest.
But it’s all so…fuzzy.
Maybe I was just thinking about Voltron.
But I could have sworn there was something before that—better than that.
It drove me nuts trying to grasp at the details of something that may or may not have existed.
20 years later, I was flipping through the channels when I landed on Cartoon Network.
There it was. Or was it?
I could have sworn it was called something else, but there it was.
G-Force: Guardians of the Universe.
I sat for a moment and watched.
Suddenly a flood of memories came rushing back, but…the memories weren’t matching up. Wasn’t this called Battle of the Planets?
And who the fuck are Ace Goodheart and Dirk Daring? Weren’t they named Mark and Jason?
It looked right, but the voices seemed off, the names were wrong…and wasn’t there originally a talking robot involved?
Was my memory that bad? I know I had my fun in college, but I had to have a few functioning brain cells left.
I turned the TV off and went to bed, confused and mildly angry that my childhood memories were so wrong.
But this was in a time before Wikipedia.
It turns out my childhood memories hadn’t failed me. I was right.
Sort of.
in 1972 Kagaku Ninja Tai Gathchaman was created in Japan. A few years later Sandy Frank, a producer most famous for the game show Name that Tune introduced an American dubbed version called Battle of the Planets.
But there were some changes. To hit the American juvenile television market of the late 1970s, Frank removed most of the elements of graphic violence, profanity and transgenderism—and added a talking robot, most likely to cash in on the popularity of a little movie called Star Wars.
So what the hell was on Cartoon Network?
In 1986 the cartoon was retooled as G-Force: Defenders of the Universe by Turner Entertainment. They added back in all the violence, removed the cute little robot and changed the names and voices.
And this is what aired on Cartoon Network.
Now, I like me some violent television, but…
I don’t like watching classic moments from my youth vandalized—even if it was restored it to its original glory.
Even if, in reality, that which I held so dearly was the actual vandalism.
As I read about my beloved childhood cartoon, I began noticing a strange similarity— another dubbed Japanese classic from the “good old days” bared some striking resemblances.
It got me wondering.
Did Voltron coldplay Battle of the Planets?
Now, before I continue, let me stress that as a child, I loved Voltron. Just about every boy my age did.
This isn’t about whether or not Voltron was bad ass. We all know Voltron was bad ass.
But.
Let’s just look at some of the evidence, shall we?
Battle of the Planets was a team of five. Each had a vehicle that fit into their main ship, the Phoenix.
Voltron was a team of five. Each had a vehicle that fit together to form the super robot, Voltron.
Coincidence?
Perhaps, but, let’s look at the teams, shall we?
Each color-coordinated team is lead by a stoic leader, level headed and heroic.
Both teams have an impetuous, hot-headed second in command, always ready to contest the decisions of the leader.
Chunky lummox with a heart of gold? Check.
Quirky, little guy with a speech impediment? Check.
Pink-clad female team member named Princess? Check and check. (Why do they always name the female team member Princess?)
Like I said before, I loved me some Voltron as a kid. They formed a blazing sword, for god’s sake.
But this isn’t about which show was better.
Truth be told, this isn’t even about which came first.
It’s really about proving my childhood was real. Those faded memories wrapped up in polyester and plaid—they were real…
As real as skinned knees and birthday cakes, an inevitable part of my childhood that was almost lost to the annals of time.
Hmm…Episode 7 took us deeper into the story….how bad could a girl’s jealousy go? So much to the point of shooting out pink lights everywhere to eradicate all sorts of other magical powers..? o.o
Thank God women in real life don’t have that power! Ne? But sometimes in real life , I guess it could be worse than pink lights x.x
Anyway, Yuka’s false relationship image and misunderstanding of Kakeru and Misuzu-sempai gives birth to a ‘twisted awakening!’
Yuka! You got power!!! Finally! T.T
Halfway through the episode, I seriously thought Yuka had lost it coz’ she was behaving scaringly odd but enter the glassgirl with knives,Yukiko for the rescue. They have some girl-to-girl talk and Yukiko opens her past up to Yuka to cheer her up. (Except that Yuko ends up crying instead?)
And on the other hand, we have a man-to-man talk too between Kakeru and fireboy Tajima about their ahem..girls.
Hot news to me – One of the Knights lady and Misuzu-sempai know each other?! Who?! Where? When? *rolls eyes*
MAYBE they are from same clan? PERHAPS sisters? Makes me think….
Kukuri-san’s silent killer impact is also impressive. Her ‘read my notes!’ way of communication suddenly strikes Kakeru about something! Yes! THAT!
And poor damsel in distress, the silver haired oujosama, couldn’t escape yet from the wicked Knights’ hands.
There wasn’t much action in this episode as we need to know the story too, right? So we had so many revelations that made us sit on the edge for our next episode. I’m waiting…..I’ll wait…oh please….ONE WEEK is too much!!
after a long while, finally i finished watching Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S today… I once have been lazy in watching this series. In fact, i put it on-hold in episode 5 for about 2 months… But today i manage to marathon it all to the end…
My impression of this show is… well, just good, or standard.. maybe i should’ve play the game to know more (but i don’t really want to, though… it’s got too much installments).. anyway, i like the girls in this series though, especially the yugiri sisters and corticarte..
too bad that i haven’t watch the first polyphonica… makes me want to watch it right now, seeing it is a sequel from the crimson S..
(What?!

Through the red moon’s wind,
I quietly walk
My vow is to protect you
This sword is a proof of my determination
The sun that heels over the sky
The red carpet that spreads over the sea
Things above follow in
The boat is now being guided forward
The world where you’re at
Right now, is here
becoming one
to the heaven you’re aiming for
without hesitation
If ever, this wind
could be completely stops
I am the one who will
row that boat
If ever, you break down
I’ll help you
No matter how the rain and the waves fall
I’ll be my friend (your) shield
Knowing more of
yesterday’s feelings about tomorrow
Your eyes, unclouded
I know a trick, somehow
Dependently crying on and on
Our journey’s wheels
Even so, it’s still only
a firm thing that’s here
To surmount not the high mountain
nor the sea
I think I don’t know myself
Thinking that baggage
are nothing but hindrance
If ever, this sun
breaks apart
I will illuminate
this road with fire
If ever, this land
Tears apart
To cross over to the next place safely
I will be the bridge
If ever, this wind
could be completely stops
I am the one who will
row that boat
Then, When that day struggles to happen
Our day’s travel
will be a song that forever resounds

One subject, broken into more than 20 separate posts. It’s going to go kind of like this.
Each day, I will release a new letter. I have all of my anime alphabetized, so this post is going to start with Numbers through A, that is to say, anime titles beginning with a number (or period) and the letter A. Tomorrow, B, the next day, C, and so on and so forth.
I was going to make one post, and just have it be really long. But I previewed the post when I was around G, and realized that the post would be way to long, and nobody in their right mind would read the whole thing. In fact, I doubt that anyone will read this.
As I go, I will also paste each section in the page on the top, which will be titled (if it isn’t already) “Anime Character List” or something like that. Anyway, I’m trying to set this up so that this post will end right before December 6th, which would be one full year of Eye Sedso, which blows my mind. Let’s do this shit.
Let’s start off with the A’s (or dots?)
.hack//SIGN – Sora
*This show was dropped at 21
Ugh. What a shitty way to start off what should be a pretty cool post that most people won’t read anyway. I hated every single character from .hack//SIGN, which is one of the reasons why I dropped it (like, 3 episodes away from finishing it). Sora is cool because he not only has sick knife-like weapons, but he kills off the other characters, and I hate them, so he’s okay in my book. I mean, every other character is so fucking lame that….you know what, fuck it. NEXT!
07 Ghost – Frau
*This show was dropped at 4
Wow, this post is starting off badly, as I didn’t like either of these first two entries. 07 Ghost was too gay for me. and Frau gets the win here only because, based on his collection and love for erotica, he can’t really be considered completely gay. Also, he provides some comic relief by being perverted, which is fine. I still don’t like him.
Afro Samurai – Afro
First of all, I would like to point out that Afro Samurai is filled with some of the most awesome, insane, fucking cool anime characters out there. Any character in this show could be a number one. But look at Afro:
He’s got a fucking afro.
He’s voiced by fucking SAMUEL L JACKSON!!!!!!
He’s fucking sick at fighting.
He looks fucking cool (even if you take out the afro)
Have you seen his sideburns? He reminds me of a Japan’d out version of Jules from Pulp Fiction.
He’s black, and black samurai kick ass (judging by this anime, which is the only place I’ve seen a black samurai).
He was an awesome hockey coach.
Basically, if Samuel L Jackson is voicing a character, you know that it HAS to be a character that is not only bad ass, but awesome.
Ah! My Goddess! – Urd
What is it about Urd that makes her awesome? Is it her sometimes abrasive personality? Is it her sick white or silver or whatever color that is hair? Is it the cool markings on her face? Is it the fact that she’s both a Goddess, and half devil? Yes. In fact, it’s all of those. Belldandy can suck my fucking balls, Urd is the best. I wish she just turned demon and killed everyone. (I fucking hate Belldandy).
Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka – Nagomi Shiraishi
What the FUCKK??? I didn’t choose Rie Kugimiya’s character? No. No I did not. And that’s because Nagomi is awesome. She almost reminds me of Nagato from Haruhi (you can guess who the best character is gonna be from that show) because she’s oh so mysterious. I mean, take the haunted house episode for example. She was fucking weird. She’s fucking weird, and I think that’s a good quality to have. (I can’t remember much of this show, and that means it wasn’t that great).
Akikan! – Yell
So yeah. Why Yell? First of all, she has a cool weapon, aka a sword (thingy). Second of all, she’s an obvious lesbian. Thirdly, she acts like a cat sometimes (like in that shitty filler episode). That’s it. Those are all of my reasons. Take it or leave it. The show really wasn’t all that great, so I don’t care.
Aoi Hana – Kyouko
If you read my review of the series, then you know that I chose her because she looks awesome with that blonde hair flipped to the side. And she cries a lot, which is super effective. What the hell, she’s awesome. And a lesbian (actually I think she’s bisexual. I bet she ends up with her fiance).
Asu no Yoichi – Chihaya Ikaruga
This will not be the last you've seen of Chihaya on Eye Sedso. Hint hint.
This girl has STYLE. I mean, she’s probably one of the best dressed characters that I’ve seen in anime in recent memory. She causes trouble and draws fucking manga, which is cool, even though in every single anime it seems there’s always someone who draws manga or something, and they always end up being the coolest characters. Look for her the next time (or the time after that) that i do a cool characters post.
Asura Cryin’ – Kanade Takatsuki
It's fun to re-use old images!
Okay, first and foremost, Heterochromian = Glory. So big points there. Secondly, most of the other characters are kind of lame. In fact, this show was pretty fucking bad. But Kanade ruled, before the artists shit the bed and couldn’t draw fucking eyes (or anything else for that matter). You want to see why else she’s awesome? See this post.
Azumanga Daioh – Tomo Takino Kimura Sensei
Now first of all, this was a tough call between Tomo and Osaka. Oh and by the way, anyone who is complaining right now (I know you’re out there) about why Chiyo didn’t win because she’s “so cute and blah blah blah.”….shut the fuck up. I don’t care. Tomo’s the best (even though Osaka is really fucking close), and what’s more, here’s why:
She’s impulsive. Remember when she threw Chiyo’s keys into the woods because she wondered what it would be like if they lost the keys? That’s showing real zeal and character. I love it.
Actually that first quote is almost enough to prove my point, but I’ll continue….She slacks nicely. Now when class time rolled around in high school, I found it to be an ample time to slack off and take naps. Even yesterday, I had a paper due, but I didn’t overwork, I simply ignored the problem (doing the paper) and it went away (it was optional, but I really should have done it). Of course, college desks make it hard to nap on, they’re so fucking small. plus I don’t sleep much anymore.
She reminds me of me (or how I used to be). Fucking retarded. (I miss having a shitload of energy, and bouncing off the walls). I used to be so impulsive and eccentric that I didn’t know what to do with myself. Then this year it all disappeared. I fucking matured. I’m pissed off that I matured. It’s all this ISSS’s fault, letting me organize my thoughts and shit. FUNGUL!
This should probably be a tie between her and Osaka. Osaka fucking rules.
Well I debated for a while, and then I went looking for the clip where Tomo throws the keys, and I found this one:
I totally forgot about this dude. He was funny as something that you laugh really hard at (like how shitty my analogies are). Kimura was my favorite (but Osaka and Tomo still kick ass). Azumanga Daioh was the shit.

It doesn’t take much to appease me. My ratings may not reflect that but catching my attention requires very few buttons to be pushed. That and if I have time to spare. When finished, I may come to the conclusion that it’s a complete waste of time or more often than not, a bland series with nothing remarkable. Without its quirks, Kiddy Girl -AND- would fall into the sad but growing pile of rejections. However, with them, this is one of my more anticipated shows for autumn.
The first thing that comes to mind is the uniform. Forget the first 5 minutes with the flashback and having the fate of humanity hinge on the outcome of an epic space battle. It’s all about waitressing with Ascoeur and Q’feuille. They’re maids who are ready to serve. I can only dream of my company being like the GTO and providing a maid café for rest and relaxation.
Although I usually despise the useless, naive, and whiny moeblob types, Ascoeur doesn’t seem as bad. Her voice and personality meshes very well. It’s far better than Kuruko from A Certain Scientific Railgun or those disemboweled stuffed animals in Kämpfer. Even if I found myself annoyed at a certain scene, it would’ve smoothed over by the end of the episode. Now, I can’t see her any other way but a clingy pudding addict.
The other half of the ES apprentice team almost became a cookie cutter tsundere. If it wasn’t for the magic wand incident, her hidden mahou shoujo loving side would never be revealed. However, now that it’s public, I see her in a different light. Cute and shy. Jealous if her partner talks about another girl. Q’feuille is so adorable~
Finally, we have the parodies that filled the second episode. It wasn’t overdone like Seitokai no Ichizon. They hit the more (in)famous ones and paced it out. I didn’t have to stop and think about the source. There was enough time to do so while watching it without pause.
All of this adds up to a solid show that holds a guarenteed spot in my weekly viewing. Sure, the starting episodes seem to have nothing related to its prequel. However, I get the impression that the producers want to build up the relationship between the Ascoeur and Q’feuille before diving deeper. After all, they’re not full ES members… yet.
That being said… I want to know why this show wasn’t recommended to me earlier
Last week was Oni-con in Houston, which was awesome and a much needed break from school. While I was there I was lucky enough to have a photo project, portraits, that could be completed at the con. Long story short, I found some really awesome cosplayers, got 4 really great rolls of film developed and presented probably the best project of my college career so far. With this being such a great success and considering how much I enjoyed both taken and printing all the pictures, I’ve decided to attempt to turn this into a much bigger project and hopefully a small scale business venture. From now on I will try and devote the majority of my con attendance to scheduling photo shoots and selling prints back to the cosplayers. So far with this first run, it seems to very successful, with everyone wanting prints, which has pushed me into attempting this at the next con I attend. I really hope that this will work out for me, make some money doing what I love, where I love to be or at least pay off the cost of the trip there. I haven’t really got anything else hashed out yet, but I plan on doing so soon. Until then, here are pictures (bad scanner /sadface).
Song: TSUKIAKARI no MICHISHIRUBE Artist: stereopony Album: TSUKIAKARI no MICHISHIRUBE Other: Opening Song for the anime DARKER THAN BLACK – Ryuusei no Gemini-
kotae no nai mainichi ga
tada sugite yuku jikan ga
kore kara saki dounaru no darou?
wakaranai…
These [answerless] days and
this time that just passes by,
where will they lead me?
I don’t know…
yami yori mo fukai yoru no kodoku ni
moyowasareteta
dareka ni ima kidzuite hoshii…
koko kara nigedashitai kara
Rather than the darkness, I was led astray
by the loneliness of the night.
Someone, please realize it…
I want to run away from this!
mado kara mieru asayake
heya ni narihibiku oto
ARA-MU ni okosarete
usugurai naka ietobidasu yo
KABAN no naka ni ha
nani mo kawaranai heibon tsumekonde
soshite itsumo no basho he
From the window, I can see the morning,
a sound rings in my room,
awoken by the alarm clock,
In my depression, I dash out from my home.
In my bag, there’s nothing
but the usual stuffed in there…
With that, I go to the usual place.
dareka ga itta kotoba ga
ki ni natte mayowasarete
arasoitaku nante nai kara
nani mo ienai
yume ya risou ha aru keredo
kimochi bakari saki ni itte
genjitsu ga zutto ushiro kara
BOKU wo miteru
The words someone said
bother me a bit…they confuse me.
I don’t want to have any disputes,
so I don’t say anything at all.
I have my own dreams and ideals but,
by feelings rush in before I do.
Reality as always been staring at me
from behind.
nee dareka oshiete
minna sou nano kana?
kyou ga shiawase nara
sorede ii to omoerutte
osanai koro ni ha
tashika ni atta yo
yume wo oikaketeta
demo sore mo tooi kioku
Hey, someone tell me,
is everyone else like this?
If today I can be happy,
that’s is enough for me.
Back in my childhood,
I’m sure I had
a dream I chased after…
but that too is just a distant memory…
kotae no nai mainichi ga
tada sugite yuku jikan ga
kore kara saki dou naru no darou?
wakaranai…
TSUKIAKARI no MICHISHIRUBE
kumo wo koe BOKU ni todoke
susumu beki michi wo terashite yo
kyou ga donna ni kowaresou demo
These [answerless] days and
this time that just passes by,
where will they lead me?
I don’t know…
The Signs of the Moonlight
crosses over the clouds and reach me
and light the road I must take.
Today seem it’ll somehow break but…
nani ga attemo
nani ga attemo
shinjitetai kara
ano hi no tooi kioku yobisamasu kara
wasurenaide ne mune ni kizamitsuke
no matter what happens,
no matter what happens,
I want to believe
because my memories of those days have awoken me.
I won’t forget them, I carve them in my heart.
kotae ha jibun no naka ni

The answer lies within us,
I’m sure it’s there that’s why
we will not give up.
We won’t stop living strongly
even in harsh times
where we can’t move forward.
To us who have worries,
the wind blows
through thick and thin.
Fall 2009 season OP/ED themes post! Kindly note that this is quite subjective as it’s listed as “Top 5″ ranked according to my preference, followed by randomly listed titles as “special mention.”
~ Format :: “Song title” by band/artist (OP#/ED# – anime series title)
My Top 5 OP/ED themes this Fall:
1. “Hajimari no Hi” by Suga Shikao feat. Mummy-D (OP #1 –Letter Bee) – watch: anime OP — music video
- Very good song. I love the catchy funky upbeat melody, especially the bass parts, and I really love Suga-sama’s voice~ <3 OK, I might be biased since I’ve loved Suga Shikao’s stuff ever since I heard his songs in Honey and Clover, but really, this is a very good song!
The full song includes Mummy-D’s rap part toward the end of the song. The single will be released on November 25, 2009. Counting down the days! ^^
2. “Tsukiakari no Michishirube” by Stereopony (OP#1 – Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini) – watch: anime OP — music video
- This is a nice song, although I didn’t like it as much when I first heard it in episode 2 of the series. I guess I was kinda expecting a more bada$$ and rock-ish(?) song, kinda like (“Howling” by abingdon boys school) and (“Kakusei Heroism ~The Hero Without a Name~” by Antic Cafe) OP1 and OP2, respectively, from Darker than Black’s first season. But then, after an episode, I realized that this song fit the second season pretty well as Suou is more of the lead character now rather than Hei. I’ve been warming up to this song every time I hear it, and I think it’s one of the good ones this Fall.
3. “From Dusk Till Dawn” by abingdon boys school (ED #1 – Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini) – watch: anime ED — music video
– It’s a very nice rock ballad from abingdon boys school. I’m not exactly a fan of ABS, but I do kinda like them and I do find most of their songs really nice to listen to.
I also liked their OP (“Howling“) for Darker than Black’s first season, and their OP (“Kimi no Uta“) for Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 last season.
4. “From the Beginning to End” by Ryu (OP #1 – Winter Sonata) – watch: anime OP — music video
– A very nice and bittersweet-sounding love song. This Korean ballad kinda gives me goosebumps and tugs at my heartstrings every time I listen to it. I love the piano and the strings part the most. Also of note is that it’s the same opening song as the one in the original 2002 Korean drama of the same title.
I’m still not sure if I’m gonna keep watching this series, but this I know for sure, Winter Sonata has one of the best BGM this season. I love, love, love the music. Especially all the instrumental pieces and that Nutcracker-ish sounding music in episode 0 (when the lead guy picked up the kid’s book). ^^
5.1 “Moeruyou na Koi ja naikedo” by Tsuru (ED #3 – Cross Game) – watch: anime ED – music video
– It’s a tie for #5! First is this ED song from Cross Game. I really love the melody and the guitar parts. The chorus is nice as well. I love Cross Game too (go watch it or read the manga now!) I don’t really know what else to say… Why don’t you just take a listen? ^_^
The single will be released on November 11, 2009 [which reminds me of a cool contractor from Darker than Black ]
5.2 “Kimi no Todoke” by Tanizawa Tomifumi (OP #1 – Kimi ni Todoke) – watch: anime OP — music video
– It’s a tie for #5! Second is this OP tune from Kimi ni Todoke. I love the beat of this song, especially the intro part. The chorus part is pretty catchy too. This series is love~ <3 The story is really good and the characters are quite well written. Seriously, if you like romantic comedies that makes you fee warm and fuzzy, you should really check this out! ^^
———————————————–
Special Mention: (just click on the song title to watch & listen to the anime OP/ED) – in random order -
“Snow fairy” by FUNKIST (OP #1 – Fairy Tail)
“Believe You” by Yoonji (ED #1 – Winter Sonata)
“Light Infection” by Prague (OP #8 – Gintama) – I included this because it was this series’ OP/ED song as the Fall 2009 season started.
“Sanagi” by POSSIBILITY(ED #9 – Gintama) – See previous comment.
“Sakurabito” by Sun Set Swish (ED #21 – Bleach) – Ditto
Most of the songs are from anime I’ve seen (or at least seen 1 episode of this Fall or heard the OP/ED song somewhere, or was recommended to me by someone), so I might’ve missed some good songs from series I don’t usually watch.
